Product Overview

Kaweco Polyvinyl Alcohol 2488 is a water-soluble polymer. “24” means the polymerization degree is about 2400, ‘88’ means the alcoholysis degree is 87.0% – 89.0% (mol/mol). Its appearance is white or yellowish powder, non-toxic, harmless, safe and environmentally friendly.

Product Characteristics

• Water solubility: not easily soluble in water at room temperature, but can be soluble in water under stirring and other conditions, the aqueous solution is transparent.
• Chemical resistance: pH value of its aqueous solution is around 5-7 at room temperature, stable viscosity, almost unaffected by weak acids, weak bases or organic solvents (esters, ketones, high-grade alcohols, hydrocarbons), very high oil resistance.
• Miscibility: miscible with starch, synthetic resin, cellulose derivatives and various surfactants and has good stability.
• Film-forming property: It has good film-forming property, and the film formed has excellent adhesion, solvent resistance, friction resistance, tensile strength and oxygen barrier.

Product Applications

• Construction industry: It is widely used in powder chemical building materials, such as dry powder adhesive powder, dry powder putty, dry powder mortar, oil field cementing additives; it is also an important raw material for tile adhesive, stucco plaster binder and so on. It can improve flexibility, water retention, reduce friction, enhance work efficiency and quality, prevent plaster layer from cracking and falling off, and increase adhesion strength and smoothness.
• Textile industry: It can be used as warp sizing agent for weaving preparation, stiffening and thickening agent for finishing process, and raw material for manufacturing vinyl fiber.
• Paper industry: It can be used as a surface coating agent for surface coating, an adhesive for paper tubes or cardboards, and an adhesive for pigment coating.
• Other aspects: it can be used as the protective colloid in polymer emulsification and suspension polymerization reaction. It can also be used in the manufacture of films, acetalized derivatives, and the development and manufacture of high-mode PVA fibers.
