MIT Leads Global Rankings in 11 Key Subjects for 2025 Academic Year

The QS World University Rankings has recognized MIT as the leading institution in 11 different subject areas for 2025. This announcement highlights the institute’s commitment to excellence in education and research.
MIT’s Top Rankings Across Diverse Subjects
Among the subjects where MIT secured the top position are Chemical Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Linguistics, Materials Science, Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Manufacturing Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, as well as Statistics and Operational Research.
Strong Second Places Highlight Broad Excellence
Additionally, MIT achieved a remarkable second place in seven other fields, which include Accounting and Finance, Architecture/Built Environment, Biological Sciences, Business and Management Studies, Chemistry, Earth and Marine Sciences, and Economics and Econometrics.
Performance in Broader Academic Categories
In the 2024 evaluations, universities were assessed across 55 specific subjects along with five broader categories. MIT excelled in the broader category of Engineering and Technology, claiming the top rank while securing second place in Natural Sciences.
