Kuraray Poval5-88 (PVA205) is a water-soluble synthetic resin with excellent properties.

Product Characteristics

• Water solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in almost all organic solvents.
• Viscosity: It belongs to medium-low viscosity products, the viscosity of its aqueous solution varies with the degree of polymerization, temperature and the concentration of the solution, the viscosity ranges from 4.6 – 5.4cps.
• Film-forming property: the aqueous solution is easy to form a film, and the film has excellent physical properties such as tensile strength and abrasion strength.
• Hygroscopicity: the film has low hygroscopicity, and the change with humidity is smaller than other water-soluble polymer.
• Resistance to medicine and oil: it has strong resistance to weak alkali and excellent resistance to oil and grease at the same time.
• Quality index:
• Alcohol solubility: 86.5 – 89.0mole%.
• Volatile matter: ≤5.0%.
• Ash content: ≤0.4%.
• pH value: 5 – 7.

Product Applications

• Paper industry: used in paper surface sizing to improve the water resistance, strength and printing adaptability of paper; also used as a binder for paper coatings to improve the adhesion of coatings and the gloss of paper.
• Textile industry: used as warp sizing agent, it can form soft, tough and wear-resistant slurry film, reduce the breakage rate of warp yarn in the weaving process, and improve the weaving efficiency; it can also be used for finishing of fabrics to improve the handfeel and wrinkle-resistant performance of fabrics.
• Construction industry: as an additive used in various dry powder putty, dry mortar, tile adhesive, etc., can improve the flexibility, water retention and viscosity of mortar, enhance the adhesion, improve the construction performance.
• Plastic industry: used as dispersant and lubricant in PVC processing, it can improve the processing performance of PVC resin and enhance the surface finish of products; it can also be used as modifier and additive in the preparation of other plastics.
• Other fields: it can be used in the preparation of synthetic emulsion as protective colloid; it can be used in photoresist and photographic material in electronics industry; it can be used as binder and surface treatment agent for ceramic blanks in ceramic industry; it can also be used in cosmetic, medicine, agriculture and other fields, such as mask and hand cream in cosmetics, drug carrier and tablet binder in medicine, and soil conditioner and seed coating agent in agriculture.
